Hiking and biking in the mountains of South Tyrol
Located above the Eisack Valley, the Gnollhof is ideally placed for active holidays at all times of the year. It is the starting point for numerous walking trails leading through meadows and forests and up to lush pastures. In spring, the walking season begins with easy tours over the sunny low-lying hills (the “Keschtnweg”) or through the wonderful flowers of the Eisack Valley. In high summer walkers can venture into the Alpine regions. In autumn, the adventurous can visit the Villnöss valley with its famous Geisler peaks (a UNESCO world natural heritage site) and the Gröden Valley in the Dolomites. See also “Walking in the Eisack Valley Dolomites”.Mountain bikers and cyclists will also find that the Eisack Valley is a green paradise in which to practise their sport. The Eisack Valley cycle track runs virtually flat alongside the River Eisack, while particularly fit bikers can try out the tips on offer from junior chef Peter. Many mountain bike tours start directly from the door, which is situated at a junction between the Villnöss and Gröden Valleys. See also “Bike routes in South Tyrol”.
If you would rather put your feet up, we have a large sunbathing area available. There is a tennis court and swimming pool if you nevertheless fancy a sporting diversion.
