Events in South Tyrol
The Geisler peaks in the Villnöss Valley, a favourite postcard image and hiking destination at all times of the year. This UNESCO world natural heritage site ranks as one of the most impressive features of the Dolomites (25 km).
The city of Brixen in the Eisack Valley is a place where animated city life meets a historical bourgeois ambience. Attractions include the house facades and shops in the Laubengasse, the cathedral with its cloister and the museum in the Hofburg (18 km).
Strolling between thousands of flower beds in the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle near Meran, you will encounter lemon trees, tulips and palms – voted the most beautiful gardens in Italy (67 km).
The regional capital, Bozen, a cultural melting-pot and the last resting place of Ötzi the Iceman. Visit the MMM Firmian, the mountain museum created by world-famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner, the fruit market, the Museum for Modern Art, the promenade along the River Talfer, the picturesque Runkelstein Castle and the Waltherplatz with its charming cafés (37 km).
Klausen, with its imposing monastery located up above the city, possesses one of the most beautiful historic centres of Italy. This medieval city, praised and sketched by Albrecht Dürer, is also home to the artistically and historically priceless Loreto treasure (9 km).
