What is the history behind the name Gnollhof?
The estate was first documented in 1740 under the name “Gnallguet” and became the property of the Verginer family in 1851. In 1888, the Gnollhof inn opened its doors to guests for the first time.

Guests can choose from double rooms and suites in a range of interior styles – from Larch, Swiss Pine and Forest to Alpine and Mountain Spirit. Each category is closely connected to the surrounding nature and the location of the hotel.
How large are the rooms at the Gnollhof?
Depending on the category, double rooms are approximately 30–40 m², while suites are approximately 40–50 m². The exact size and occupancy are stated for each room category.
How many people can the rooms accommodate?
Many double rooms and suites accommodate two to four people. The Forest Double Room is designed for two people; the exact maximum occupancy is stated for each category.

The approximately 40 m² rooms draw inspiration from the shapes, materials and moods of the Dolomites. Spacious, connected to nature and characterised by a contemporary Alpine style.
Do the room rates include meals?
Yes. The published room rates include the Gnollhof pampering board and the stated included services.
Can I reserve a specific room number or floor?
We are happy to note your request and take it into account when assigning rooms whenever possible. A firm guarantee of a specific room number, floor or area of the building depends on availability.

What dining plan does the Gnollhof offer?
At the Gnollhof, you enjoy the house’s pampering board with breakfast, a small lunch snack, a cake buffet and a four-course dinner. Enjoyment accompanies your day – unobtrusively and with plenty of flavour.
What can I expect at breakfast?
The buffet offers bread from the village bakery, cold cuts and cheese, a vitality corner, jams, South Tyrolean honey, eggs, milk, juices and aromatic coffee. Regional fare to start the morning well.
What is served during the lunch snack?
Between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, a small lunch snack with salad, a pasta dish and soup is available. Enjoy it on the sun terrace, in the fireplace room or on the veranda.
When is the cake buffet offered?
A selection of cakes is available from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. A sweet interlude after a hike, time by the pool or a quiet hour in the garden.
What does dinner consist of?
In the evening, a four-course menu from the Gnollhof kitchen awaits you. Regional ingredients, South Tyrolean roots and Mediterranean accents shape the dishes; the menu is complemented by a salad buffet with various dressings, oils and vinegars.
Where do the ingredients come from?
The kitchen focuses on seasonal, preferably regional products with traceable origins and short supply routes. Bread, speck, honey, apple juice, coffee and selected spirits come from trusted producers in South Tyrol.
Are vegetarian requests accommodated?
Vegetarian alternatives are gladly accommodated whenever possible. It is best to discuss your requirements with the team when booking and again upon arrival.
Can the Gnollhof accommodate allergies and intolerances?
The kitchen team takes allergies and intolerances into account wherever possible; however, the Gnollhof is not a specialised allergy hotel. Please inform us of your requirements well in advance; suitable alternatives can be offered depending on the menu.
Does the Gnollhof have its own winery?
Yes. The Taschlerhof winery in Brixen belongs to the family and is run by Peter Wachtler, the husband of host Margit Verginer.
Which wines are produced at the Taschlerhof?
Sylvaner, Kerner, Riesling and Gewürztraminer grow on the steep, south-east-facing slopes. These mineral-rich white wines from the Isarco Valley naturally have their place at the Gnollhof.
Can I reserve a specific table in advance?
For organisational reasons, fixed table reservations in the dining room cannot be made in advance. You are welcome to share your preferences, but a binding confirmation is not possible.
Location & Arrival
How do I reach the Gnollhof by car?
Take the Klausen exit on the Brenner motorway and follow the signs to Gufidaun. At the entrance to the village, turn right uphill; after around 4.5 kilometres of forest road, the large Gnollhof sign leads you to the hotel entrance.
What is the road to the hotel like?
The final stretch follows a narrow, winding country road through coniferous forest and past meadows. Take your time on the drive up – peace and beautiful views await you at the top.
Can I travel to the Gnollhof by train?
Yes. The nearest train station is in Klausen, around seven kilometres from the hotel.
Is there a transfer from the train station?
Südtirol Transfer takes you directly from Klausen train station to the Gnollhof with advance booking. In case of changes or delays, please contact the transfer service directly.
Can I arrive via Bolzano Airport?
Yes. Bolzano Airport is around 38 kilometres away and is served by airlines including SkyAlps. Südtirol Transfer also offers a shuttle from the airport to the hotel.
Is the Gnollhof connected to public transport?
The Gnollhof is deliberately located in a peaceful setting and is not directly connected to the public transport network. The nearest bus stop is in Laion, while the nearest train station is in Klausen.
How far is it to Brixen, Klausen and Val Gardena?
Brixen is approximately 15 kilometres away, the Klausen motorway exit around 7.5 kilometres, and Ortisei in Val Gardena around 17 kilometres. This keeps towns, culture and the Dolomites within easy reach.

Can I charge my electric car at the hotel?
Four paid charging stations are available, each with 11 kW and Type 2 charging cables. Billing is based on consumption; the currently published price is €0.50 per kWh and may be subject to change.
What should I know if I arrive late?
Please inform the hotel if you are arriving after 6:00 pm. Check-in is possible until 9:00 pm at the latest.

From 1860 to 1980, Bad Froy was a well-known spa above Gufidaun. Today, the site is a reminder of this unique chapter in local history and is used as a youth centre.

Castles, historic residences, museums and historic towns are all within easy reach. Klausen, Brixen and Bolzano combine South Tyrolean history with charming streets, art and living culture.
Are there walks to farms and traditional taverns?
Yes. Trails lead through vineyards to farms, small hamlets and traditional Buschenschänke, where local food and wine can be enjoyed. In the Isarco Valley, landscape and culinary pleasure are often just a few steps apart.
Do walking trails start directly at the hotel?

Can I go hiking directly from the Gnollhof?
Yes. Marked walking and hiking trails start close to the hotel and lead through forests and meadows around Gufidaun. For hikes in the Dolomites, Villnöss or Val Gardena, numerous starting points are also within easy reach.
Are there hikes for different levels of ability?
The surrounding area offers trails at different elevations, from easy walks to more demanding summit routes. Mountain huts, alpine pastures and peaceful viewpoints accompany you along the way.
Are guided hikes offered?
As part of the activity programme, selected guided hikes are offered, including tours to the hotel’s own alpine pasture. The current weekly programme is available at the hotel.
Can I borrow hiking equipment?
Hiking poles and backpacks are available to hotel guests free of charge. Hiking maps and a small library also help you plan your next adventure.
Can I rent an e-bike?
The Gnollhof does not have its own bike rental service, but works with a specialist rental company in Villnöss that can deliver e-bikes directly to the hotel by arrangement. The reception team will be happy to help organise this.
Is there an outdoor pool in summer?
The solar-heated outdoor pool is open during the summer months. A large sunbathing lawn at the edge of the forest surrounds the pool, offering sun, shade and plenty of time outdoors. Current opening hours can be found in the digital guest directory.
Which well-known hiking destinations are nearby?
The Villnöss alpine pastures, the Dolomites around Val Gardena, and destinations near Brixen and Klausen are all easily accessible. These include the Latzfonser Kreuz, Europe’s highest pilgrimage site, and the Radlseehütte mountain hut.
How do I reach the hiking areas in Villnöss and Val Gardena?
The starting points in Villnöss and Val Gardena can be reached by car, while the nearest cable cars are around 17 kilometres away. Some hikes in the activity programme also include organised transfers.
What can I expect from “Bewegt durch Wiese und Wald”?
Gentle exercises, mindful breathing and quiet moments in nature combine movement and relaxation. The weekly highlight activates the body, calms the mind and invites you to experience the natural surroundings of the Gnollhof with greater awareness.

What can I do around the Gnollhof in winter?
Skiing, winter hiking and snowshoeing can easily be combined. In between, enjoy the sauna, pool and quiet moments overlooking the snow-covered Dolomites.
Which ski areas are within reach?
The ski areas of Val Gardena, including Seceda and access to the Sellaronda, are nearby. Other Dolomite ski areas around the Isarco Valley are also ideal for a day on the slopes.
Is there a ski shuttle?
In winter, a complimentary ski shuttle takes hotel guests to selected ski areas, depending on the weekly programme. Current destinations, departure times and information can be found in the digital guest directory.
Are guided snowshoe hikes offered?
Yes. Guided snowshoe hikes are regularly part of the winter activity programme. Current dates, meeting points and registration information can be found in the digital guest directory.
Can I borrow snowshoes at the hotel?
Yes. Snowshoes are available free of charge to hotel guests as part of the winter offering.
Are there winter walking trails directly from the hotel?
Quiet paths around the Gnollhof and through the surrounding forest are ideal for winter walks and hikes. Nature begins right outside the hotel door.
Is the Infinity Pool open in winter too?
Yes. The heated Infinity Pool is open all year round, combining warm water with views of the winter Dolomites and vineyards.

Which pools are available at the Gnollhof?
The water facilities include a heated Infinity Pool, an indoor pool with counter-current system and whirlpool area, an outdoor whirlpool and, in summer, a solar-heated outdoor pool.
How large is the Infinity Pool?
The heated Infinity Pool measures 12.5 × 5 metres. While swimming, the Dolomite peaks and vineyards remain at eye level.

What does the indoor pool offer?

Is there an outdoor whirlpool?
Yes. The outdoor whirlpool offers warm water and uninterrupted views. A perfect place to unwind, especially after a hike or a winter day outdoors.
Which saunas are available?
The sauna area includes a mountain panorama sauna, herbal sauna, Vitarium, the steam bath “Das Feuer”, a salt steam bath and an outdoor area with suspended loungers.
When is the sauna area open?

Are there relaxation rooms?
Yes. Relaxation areas, water beds, suspended loungers and a tea corner provide space for quiet moments. Warm indoors. The Dolomites outside.
Is there a fitness room, and are yoga and Pilates offered?
The fitness room with views of the Geisler mountains is available to hotel guests every day. Depending on the weekly programme, yoga, Pilates and other gentle movement sessions complement the offering. Current times and opening hours can be found in the digital guest directory.
Can I book massages and beauty treatments?
Yes. The beauty offering includes facial and body treatments as well as various massages using natural products from Team Dr. Joseph and the Comfort Zone product line. Treatments are charged separately and are best booked well in advance.

What is included in the Gnollhof pampering board?
The offering includes a breakfast buffet, a small lunch snack, a cake buffet and a four-course dinner. Participation in the lunch snack and cake buffet is, of course, entirely up to you and your daily rhythm.
What are the meal times?
Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 10:00 am, the lunch snack from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, and cakes from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Dinner is served from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
Which wellness and activity services are included?
Hotel guests can use the Infinity Pool, indoor pool, seasonal outdoor pool, outdoor whirlpool, sauna area, relaxation rooms and fitness room during their respective opening hours. Participation in the listed activity programme is also included. The current weekly programme can be found in the digital guest directory.
Are bathrobes and sauna towels provided?
A wellness bag with bathrobes and the necessary sauna towels is provided for your stay. For environmental reasons, we recommend bringing your own pool slippers; disposable slippers are available at reception.
Is use of the tennis court included?
Yes. The clay tennis court can be used free of charge, depending on weather conditions and the season. Rackets and balls are also provided. Current information is available at reception or in the digital guest directory.
Which equipment can I borrow free of charge?
Backpacks, umbrellas, hiking poles and, in winter, snowshoes are available free of charge, subject to availability. Everything you need to set off on your next adventure is close at hand.
Is Wi-Fi available at the hotel?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
Are massages and additional meals included?
Massages, beauty treatments, drinks and additional meals are charged separately. Current prices are available on the website or from reception.
Booking Information & Guest Services
From what time is my room available on the day of arrival?
Your room is available from 2:30 pm. The Gnollhof pampering board already begins at 1:00 pm.
By what time do I need to check out on the day of departure?
Please vacate your room by 10:00 am. Afterwards, you can still enjoy the lunch buffet for €30.00 per person.
Can I arrive earlier on the day of arrival?
Early Day Spa on arrival day: Your room at the Gnollhof is available from 2:30 pm. However, you are very welcome to start your holiday earlier by enjoying our wellness area. From 10:00 am, we provide a wellness basket with bath towel, bathrobe and pool slippers at reception for €15.00 per person. After your arrival, you can relax by the pool and in the sauna, use the changing facilities and then move into your room from 2:30 pm.
Would you also like to enjoy a hearty breakfast? We would be delighted to serve you our regional breakfast specialities from 8:00 to 10:00 am for €20 per person.

Is a deposit required for a confirmed booking?
Yes. A deposit of €300 per room is required for a binding reservation. The booking becomes binding once written confirmation has been issued.
Are stays of fewer than three nights accepted?
The Gnollhof accepts bookings of fewer than three nights only at short notice and subject to availability. Longer stays fit more naturally into the rhythm of the hotel and its room planning.
Which payment methods are accepted?
The hotel bill can be paid in cash or by Visa, Mastercard or EC card. American Express, Diners Club and cheques are not accepted.
When can I pay my hotel bill?
The bill can be settled on the day before departure until 9:00 pm, or on the day of departure from 8:30 am. This allows the final morning to begin without any rush.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
Payment by bank transfer is possible provided the amount has been received by the time of departure. For short-notice payments, an instant bank transfer with proof of payment sent to the hotel is recommended.
Can I receive an invoice made out to a company?
Yes. Please provide the hotel in good time with the company’s full address, VAT identification number, tax number and Italian recipient code.
What are the cancellation conditions?
Up to eight weeks before arrival, the €300 deposit is retained. After this point, 90% of the booked stay will be charged. In the event of early departure, 100% of the stay will be charged. Cancellations are accepted in writing only.
Can I take out travel cancellation insurance?
Yes. The Gnollhof recommends taking out cancellation insurance at the time of booking your room. If taken out at a later date, insurance cover only begins on the tenth day after the premium has been paid.
Can I bring my dog to the Gnollhof?
Yes. Dogs are welcome for €17 per night, excluding food. Please bring your own blanket, basket and bowl. Dogs are not permitted in the wellness or restaurant areas. They are welcome on a lead in the bar, fireplace room, guest lounge and selected outdoor areas.
Are children welcome at the Gnollhof?
Yes. The garden has a playground with a slide, swing and sandpit. The hotel does not have a dedicated indoor children’s playroom. Children may use the swimming pools; access to the saunas is intended for guests aged 12 and over.
Is there a refrigerator and laundry facility?
Every room has a refrigerator, which can be stocked on request. A laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is also available; the charge is €5 per wash cycle.
How can I order a gift voucher?
Via the gift voucher page, you can give the gift of a holiday, culinary experience or relaxing getaway at the Gnollhof. For personal requests, the reception team will be happy to help with the selection and design.
