Spring in South Tyrol: Experience energetic days

Vineyards and orchards have been enriched by the scent of flowers and fresh colours. Easy walks and hikes in the valley are now an intense experience, as is a visit to the historic towns of Brixen and Klausen.

Klausen, a town of artists

Family-run inns with homemade South Tyrolean cuisine and small shops line the medieval alleys; colourful house facades create a vibrant picture. Klausen enjoys a reputation as a small town of artists, which was immortalised by Albrecht Dürer in one of his masterpieces. Tip: A hike to the Paterhügel or the Säben Monastery promise the best view of the town.

Brixen, picturesque and cheerful

Encircled by vineyards and orchards, and protected from cold winds by the mountain range to the north – it is not for nothing that Brixen is called the ‘Gateway to the South’ and was already a popular residence for bishops in the Middle Ages. The baroque cathedral and the Hofburg still dominate the townscape today, as do the chic cafés and boutiques, which invite you to stroll through the arcades.
