When spring begins to hum
Honey at the Gnollhof: nature’s delight up close
As spring arrives, the meadows and forests around the Gnollhof come alive with a gentle hum. A special time – especially for beekeeper Petra Lorenzetto, who cares for around 30 bee colonies at her nearby apiary, Petra’s Honey Hut.
Handcrafted & regional
The honey season begins with the apple blossom. Depending on flowering and weather conditions, a variety of honeys are created – each with its own unique character:
• Apple blossom
• Dandelion
• Alpine rose
• Forest and linden blossom
On average, Petra harvests around 15 kg of honey per colony.
A true taste of the Gnollhof
Guests can enjoy this pure, natural honey at breakfast. Our kitchen also uses it to create heavenly desserts and homemade pastries. In addition, Petra’s bees produce valuable products such as propolis, known for supporting the immune system.
When conditions in the hive are just right, honeycomb honey is also produced. The bees build the combs themselves – and the wax can be eaten, releasing valuable enzymes as you chew. The flavor is intense, aromatic, and truly special.
Breathe deeply: beehive air inhalation
From May to July, Petra’s Honey Hut offers a unique wellness experience: warm air (approx. 35°C) from the beehive, rich in natural components such as pollen, propolis, and essential oils, is gently inhaled through a special device – without any contact with the bees.
This soothing treatment is especially beneficial for:
• Bronchitis
• Asthma
• Allergies (e.g. hay fever)
